Apology from 343 Industries as they announce Halo Infinite campaign download sizes
The lack of pre-load means Spartans will not be getting straight into the game when it’s finally released

343 Industries have apologised alongside an announcement of the large download sizes for the Halo Infinite campaign… and no pre-load.
Pre-loading a game means you can get the usually large and time-consuming download out of the way before the official drop time, meaning you can jump straight into the game with everyone else. Without the option to pre-load, players will only be able to start the download when the launch time hits, and those with slow internet connections may struggle to get into the campaign until hours after that.
So when should Halo Infinite campaign release time be?
Halo Infinite’s campaign release time is 10am PST/1pm EST/6pm GMT on December 8th, 2021. This is still technically true, but this is just the earliest you’ll be able to start the download. Due to large file sizes, and depending on your internet connection, you might find that you have to wait until a significant amount of time after that to actually get into the game.

According to a post put out on the Halo Support Twitter profile, the download sizes for the Halo Infinite campaign will significantly differ between those who already have the multiplayer installed and those who don’t. Therefore, they have recommended that you could install the MP beforehand as a sort of pre-load to at least lessen the download time for the campaign.
Apparently, the file size for installing the multiplayer only from 10amPST/1pm EST/6pm GMT with no prior Halo Infinite installation will be 26.53GB while the MP and campaign together will be a rather large 48.42GB.
However, if you already have Halo Infinite multiplayer Beta installed on your PC or Xbox console, this will drop down to only 3.97GB for the multiplayer update, 25.86GB for the campaign installation only and just 29.83GB for both together.
Of course, these sizes may vary depending on the platform, but these numbers give an idea of not only how large the full download might be, but how drastically they are reduced by pre-installation of the Infinite multiplayer Beta. We definitely recommend downloading the multiplayer before launch time if you can.

Developer 343 Industries’ Community Director Brian Jarrard not only acknowledged but apologised for there being no Halo Infinite campaign pre-load in a Tweet on December 8th, 2021. Hopefully we can take this as a sign that this might be different for any future Halo games – or other games on 343 Industries’ horizon.
