Earlier this summer AMD released a preview of AFMF 2, the brand’s latest frame generation technology. It’s a significant upgrade from AFMF 1, allowing users to achieve higher frame rates and smoother gameplay across various games. With the latest Adrenaline 24.9.1 update, users can finally try out AFMF 2 with new profiles and lower latency.
AMD’s latest frame generation technology is being integrated into the latest Adrenalin driver update – with users now able to tweak their gaming experience through the RADEON control panel.

AMD Fluid Motion Frames 2 now allows users to control how the frame generation technology works for their games via two new profiles; Search Mode and Performance Mode. Search Mode improves frame generation quality at higher resolutions and Performance mode reduces performance overhead for low-power devices. This allows users with low-power handheld systems and desktop users with powerful graphics to make adjustments depending on their use case.
AFMF 2 reduces latency during gameplay
In addition to this, AFMF2 also made some improvements in reducing latency when frame generation is at work. These enhancements are universally applicable with AFMF 2, regardless of the mode, resolution, or hardware in use. As a result, using AMD HYPR-RX alongside AFMF 2 not only appears smoother but also delivers on average 2.5x higher frame rates in select games.

AFMF 2 exits preview state and is now available with the latest Adrenaline updates
AFMF2 is now available to use with the latest Adrenaline updates. Users can use the upgraded frame generation technology by visiting the Radeon Control panel and enabling the feature per-app basis. While we have talked about the major upgrades, AFMF2 has plenty in store with Improved Borderless-Fullscreen Support, Radeon Chill Interoperability, and Expanded API Support. So we recommend going through the new feature by yourself to get a complete idea of everything.
