AMD 9800X3D listed for $484 days before rumored announcement

Rumors have been floating around that AMD will announce its highly anticipated Ryzen 7 9800X3D when the new Core Ultra CPUs from Intel are released. Now, we have caught a glimpse of the suspected pricing for the chip, as a US retailer has jumped the gun and listed the 9800X3D days before its rumored announcement.
If the rumors are correct, AMD should announce the highly anticipated 9800X3D in four days, just one day after Intel is set to release the Core Ultra lineup. This is a pretty clear attempt to steal the spotlight from Intel after a rocky 9000 series launch. Thanks to a few retailers listing the CPU early, we can catch an early glimpse of the launch price.
AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D listings
The first listing comes from tech-america.com, where the 9800X3D is listed for $484, higher than the predicted price of $449. Which is also the price that the 7800X3D was sold for.
Already the post has attracted some attention with somewhere in the region of 95 likes. The product code for the 9800X3D has also been revealed, as both listings feature the “100-100001084(WOF)” product ID. The addition of “WOF” at the end of the code indicates that the 9800X3D does not ship with a cooler.
The second listing comes from BLT, and not the delicious sandwich. Bottom Line Telecommunications has listed the 9800X3D at a massive $524.62, which is over the predicted price by a pretty large margin.
Looking at other BLT listings reveals there’s a decent markup on most of the newer CPUs, so we’ll have to account for this when predicting the price of the 9800X3D.
The 9700X3D is currently on Amazon for $499, which is higher than the MSRP of $449. The 7800X3D has had some stock issues, likely because the 9000 series was poorly received to begin with – driving an influx of people to the 7800X3D. The markup may suggest that AMD isn’t confident that the 9800X3D will sell well, and may be hoping to get a few extra bucks out of more people who opt for last-generation chips.
