Ryzen 7000 3D V-cache CPUs announced at CES 2023: AMD kicked off CES 2023 with a Keynote from AMD CEO, Dr. Lisa Su. Dr. Su spoke about many advancements in the technological field AMD is making, however, the most notable of which was the announcement of the Ryzen 7000 series X3D (or 3D V-Cache) CPUs.

Yes, you read correctly, we used “CPUs” plural, as Dr. Lisa Su was quoted during the presentation saying “I’ve heard a lot of our fans asking me for even higher-end options.” So, AMD delivered.


Ryzen 7000 3D V-Cache CPU SKUs.

There are three Ryzen 7000 X3D CPUs in this release, and we’re really excited to share them with you. The SKUs are as follows:

Ryzen 9 7900X3D specs

  • Architecture: Zen 4
  • Core count: 12
  • Thread count: 24
  • Boost speed: 5.6GHz
  • Cache: 140MB
  • TDP 120W

Ryzen 9 7950X3D specs

  • Architecture: Zen 4
  • Core count: 16
  • Thread count: 32
  • Boost speed: 5.7GHz
  • Cache: 144MB
  • TDP 120W

Ryzen 7000 3D V-Cache series performance

Dr. Lisa Su only gave us a snippet of the performance that the new 7000 3D V-Cache CPUs can achieve, and she only gave limited data for Two CPUs. The 7800X3D and the 7950X3D. Here’s the performance data AMD shared at CES 2023.

Ryzen 7 7800X3D

The Ryzen 7 7800X3D was compared to the Ryzen 7 5800X3D in 1080P on the high image quality preset, according to AMD.

The Ryzen 7 7800X3D performance is better than the 5800X3D in all games. Here are the numbers:

  • Cyberpunk 2077 sees the 7800X3D gain 10% performance.
  • In SOTTR the 7800X3D performs 13% better.
  • Borderlands 3 sees the 7800X perform 22% better.
  • F1 2022 showcases a 25% uplift in performance for the 7800X3D.

Ryzen 9 7950X3D

The Ryzen 9 7950X3D had a larger task at hand, as it had to face off against the formidable Core i9-13900K. All results were gathered in 1080P using the high image quality setting, according to AMD.

7950X3D

The 7950X3D is about 10% faster on average than the 13900K. Here’s the benchmark data:

  • The 7950X performs 9% better in WD Legion.
  • DOTA 2 sees the 7950X3D gain an 11% uplift over the 13900k.
  • In R6 Siege, the 7800X3D is 13% faster.
  • Horizon Zero Dawn sees the 7950X perform 24% better.

Ryzen 7000 X3D CPU launch date

AMD CEO, Dr. Lisa Su announced that the new 3D V-Cache Ryzen 7000 series CPUs will be released sometime in February 2023. That’s all we know in regard to the launch date of the CPUs. But if we had to guess we would say it’s toward the end of the month.
