A high-resolution image of a Ryzen 7 9000 series processor has leaked, likely belonging to the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
Previously, Moore’s Law is Dead shared a picture of what he claimed was the packaging for the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, and now we have another high-resolution leaked image of the box. This new image is much clearer than the previous one, but both appear to be an exact match. What makes this even more interesting is that the box features the number 7 prominently, suggesting that this is indeed the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
Ryzen 9800X3D likely pictured in new leak
The leaked picture of the box also has “3D V-cache technology” written on it, which, while not new, has some intriguing implications. Leaker Hoang Anh Phu states that this version of the technology will be different from before. AMD is reportedly calling it 2nd generation 3D V-cache technology, which means it will have notable changes compared to the previous generation.
While the exact changes in the new 3D V-cache technology remain unclear, there are some leaks about the Ryzen 7 9800X3D compared to the existing 8-core 9700X processor. Notably, the TDP is expected to increase from 65W to 120W. The base clock is rumored to be 900 MHz higher, while the boost clock may be 300 MHz slower. The most significant change is in the cache size, which is set to increase from 40MB to 104MB, combining L2, L3, and 3D V-cache.
AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is expected to arrive on November 7th
The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is expected to arrive in just two weeks, with early release date teasers from AMD’s Senior VP providing solid confirmation. On top of that, with leaked packaging images already circulating, it looks like this next-gen processor is set to hit shelves on November 7th, 2024.
