Before we get to the listed specifications, it’s worth noting that there seems to be a typo in the document, as the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is incorrectly labeled as Ryzen 9 9800X3D. This wouldn’t make sense since the Ryzen 9 designation refers to 12 and 16 core parts.
Ryzen 7 9800X3D to have a massive base clock uplift to 4.7GHz
According to the specifications listed on MaxSun’s CPU support documentation for AM5 socket motherboards, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D will feature 8 cores and 16 threads and be based on the AM5 architecture. Additionally, the specs confirm that the next-gen processor will operate at a 4.7 GHz base clock. For comparison, the previous Ryzen 7 7800X3D had a base clock of 4.2 GHz; a 500 MHz uplift over the last generation. As for the max boost clock, 5.2 GHz is said to be the max boost clock for this chip, making it 200 MHz faster than the 7800X3D, which had a max boost clock of 5 GHz.

In terms of TDP, MaxSun’s document lists the 9800X3D as a 120W TDP SKU, similar to the 12-core Ryzen 9 9900X chip. The CPU also supports PBO and CO which means it can further be optimized for better performance and lower power draw. Lastly, for the 3D V-cache amount, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D will feature 96 MB of L3 cache, consisting of 32 MB on the CCD and 64 MB through the stacked V-Cache. Additionally, there will be 8 MB of L2 cache, bringing the total cache pool to 104 MB.
Ryzen 7 9800X3D to receive the 3D V-Cache treatment
With Intel openly claiming that their Core Ultra 200S CPUs will be around 5% behind the Ryzen 7000 3D V-Cache offerings, the next-gen Ryzen 9000X3D is expected to deliver double-digit performance uplifts, especially in terms of gaming. With potential specs, memory support, release dates, and leaked packaging already in our hands, the only thing left to anticipate is the pricing of the Ryzen 9000X3D lineup.
