AMD Ryzen 9 7950X prices slashed: It’s no secret that AMD’s sales have been less than AMD expected, according to AMD’s Q3 earnings statement. This is partly due to the insane pricing plaguing the high-spec Ryzen 7000 series processors, and the high cost of entry into the AM5 platform alone. 

Not only do you need the new AM5-based CPU, but also a new PCIe gen 5 enabled motherboard and a side-helping of expensive DDR5 memory. Because of this, AMD may be looking to boost sales in China by trialing a reduced price for its top-end Zen 4 CPU.

Ryzen 9 7950X prices slashed by 27% in China 

According to a report from the Chinese site EXPReview, AMD will be slashing the prices of its Ryzen 7000 series CPUs by as much as 27%. It’s not just the 7950X getting a price cut either, the 7900X and 7700X will fall by 23%, and the 7600X will be reduced by 24%. If we convert these cut prices into USD, the new CPUs become a little easier to swallow. 

EXPReview thinks that these price reductions will be permanent in China, but they obviously cannot speak for the market in the USA. We’re wondering if these prices may be a temporary fixture in the US and EU, maybe an early look at the set prices for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. 

There are many ways to get yourself a deal especially with Black Friday rolling around very soon. Some retailers have even started on the “early Black Friday deals” despite only being in early November. 

It’s very possible these prices may find their way over to the west, however, we assume it will be pending the results of the markdown in China. If the price slashes in China yield positive numbers in sales, then it’s likely we will see some cuts in the US.
