AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D release date confirmed

AMD started CES 2023 with an exciting keynote speech, this speech showcased all the technological advancements AMD plan to make in 2024. The most notable of which was the announcement of the new 3D V-cache armed Ryzen 7000 series CPUs. Three of them to be exact. Here’s the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D release date.

AMD didn’t delve into too much detail about the Ryzen 9 7950X3D, however, Dr. Lisa Su did give us a little taste of specifications, and some performance metrics against the Core i9-13900K. if you’re interested, it’s all noted in the article above.

Update: AMD revealed the release date of the 7000 X3D CPUs on YouTube. The release date for the Ryzen 9 7950X3D is the 28th of February 2023.

Ryzen 9 7950X3D specifications

AMD’s keynote presentation brushed upon the specifications of the Ryzen 9 7950X3D but didn’t go into too much detail. Dr. Lisa Su gave us just enough to be left wanting more. Here are the specifications on the 7950X3D as we know them so far.

Ryzen 9 7950X3D

• Core count: 16
• Thread count: 32
• Boost speed: 5.7GHz
• Cache: 144MB
• TDP 120W

As you can see, the massive amount of 3D V-cache is going to be a big advantage when it comes to games. As we learned with the 5800X3D in the last generation of AMD CPUs, the cache can make a huge difference when it comes to gaming workloads.

This faster gaming performance comes at a price, however, as 3D V-cache-equipped CPUs aren’t able to clock as high on the CPU cores. This brings synthetic and single-core performance down significantly.

We’re eager to see just how well the Ryzen 9 7950X3D circumvents the issues faced by the last generation’s 3D V-cache CPU.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D release date

AMD recently released a YouTube video detailing the release of each of its 7000 X3D CPUs. The release date for the 7900X3D and 7950X3D stands on February 28th, whilst the release date for the 7800X3D stands to be April 6th, 2023.

It is unclear why AMD chose to separate the CPUs in this manner, maybe it is to drive up the sales of the more expensive chips. We all know the high pricing didn’t bode well for users in the budget gaming bracket. Or maybe it’s to combat the prospected release of future Intel CPUs? Only time will tell.
