AMD’s Ryzen 9 9950X will officially release today, August 15th, 2024, and around 10:00am EST/14:00pm GMT.

As we mentioned in our Ryzen 9000 release date page, AMD have delayed the release of the 9000 series CPUs, with the launch now taking place in August and being split into two release dates dependent on the CPU.

The Ryzen 9950X will be released on Thursday, 15th August 2024 alongside the Ryzen 9000X. The Ryzen 9600X and 9700X will release tomorrow, Thursday 8th August.

The original release date for the Ryzen 9950X was the 31st July 2024, however after AMD released a statement on the 24th July 2024 highlighting concerns with the quality control of the Ryzen 9000 series CPUs, they have decided to delay the release to August which should allow them to fix any quality concerns they have.

That being said, it doesn’t seem to have scared any potential buyers away, with most feedback from the AMD community being positive. Furthermore, AMD has lifted the review embargo for the 9950X, and early benchmarks from tier-1 publications suggests that the chip does should an uplift over its predecessor. However, generational performance in the gaming sector isn’t blowing anyone away, meaning the X3D variant (which should arrive later this year) is very much the chip to go for in that department.

If you are wondering what time the Ryzen launch will take place, typically it is 9am EST / 2PM GMT / 6AM PST.

We’ve covered a lot of the pricing leaks for the Ryzen 9000 series in our main launch page here, however to focus specifically on the Ryzen 9950X we are expecting the retail price to be $599 which is $100 cheaper than the previous launch of the Ryzen 7950X.

Several retailers including Best Buy and NewEgg have leaked the pricing when they put live their product placeholder pages, and we expect these prices to be accurate.
