Black Friday is finally here – which means it’s all hands on deck when it comes to grabbing deals.

Obviously to pick up what you want you’re going to need cash – and while a majority of the deals are available online, some may want to head into their favorite retailers and snap up some deals in person. But are banks open on Black Friday?

Here’s everything we know. It’s always important to check with your bank but the good news is that most are open.

Are banks open on Black Friday?

While a majority of banks are not open on Thanksgiving, Black Friday 2022 will see a majority of them open.

That’s because Black Friday is typically not recognized as a holiday.

There are 11 events where banks are typically closed, which we have listed below chronologically.

  • New Year’s Day
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Presidents Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Juneteenth
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Columbus Day
  • Veterans Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Day

It’s worth noting that some local institutions, such as the Border Federal Credit Union in Texas, include the day after Thanksgiving as a holiday and as such will be closed. So make sure you check.
