Asus Preparing To Release A 280Hz IPS Monitor

It looks like Asus is about to add another brand new gaming monitor to its lineup. This monitor has appeared on Taobao – a retail store in Taiwan.

The VG279QM monitor will be part of the TUF Gaming family of monitors and will feature an IPS panel with a 280Hz refresh rate. With a refresh rate this high, we expect that Asus is gearing this up to appeal to the competitive gamers out there.

This new Asus monitor also supports adaptive sync which means that you will have access to variable refresh rate technologies from both Nvidia and AMD

What Are The Specifications?

The IPS panel measures at 27 inches, has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and features a rapid 1ms G2G response time.

In terms of display, the monitor has an 8-bit color depth which offers coverage of the sRGB color gamut. Brightness is at a rate of 400 cd/m², the contrast ratio is 1000:1 and the viewing angle is 178º/178º.

The monitor is also expected to make use of ELMB-sync, which is Extreme Low Motion Blur technology. This will enable the use of VRR and blur reduction which is perfect for competitive gaming.

In terms of connectivity, there are 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, and a DisplayPort 1.2 available. The monitor stand is also fully adjustable, you can tilt, swivel and change the height to suit your setup.

For the design-conscious among us, you’ll be pleased to know that this monitor even features Aura RGB lighting.

How Much Will It Cost?

Currently, the price on Taobao is listed as ¥3699 which works out at around $530 or £400. However, there are no details about when this will become available elsewhere. If we hear any updates, we will be sure to let you know and update this page.
