In straight game benchmarking, there’s no doubt that the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 is one of the most powerful 15-inch gaming laptops currently available to buy. Compared to the previous year’s model, the 2022 version has a MUX Switch, meaning an extra performance boost when it is switched on.

Unfortunately (unlike the rest of their gaming line this year) ASUS still haven’t included a webcam in the Scar 15, but this is one of the very few downsides. There’s no mechanical-like keyboard this year, which is disappointing, but the membrane keyboard is of a good standard.

There are two screen variants: a 300Hz 1080p version that we’d only really recommend for absolutely avid competitive gamers, given that the 1440p version still comes with an impressive 240Hz refresh rate, plus better color replication. You get around a 3.6ms response time on the 300Hz option which is one of the quickest in any gaming laptop. We don’t know the response time of the 240hz variant for certain, but we imagine it’s still very good.

All the various GPU options have high TGP, meaning greater performance, and each comes with one of the most powerful Intel 12th gen laptop CPUs: the Intel Core i9-12900H.
