When it comes to Dystopian games, it seems like Russia has a certain chokehold on them. And that hasn’t changed, as the Russian studio Mundfish (who also developed the VR game, Soviet Lunapark, which was discontinued) are working on a gorgeous new action RPG game, Atomic Heart.

Atomic Heart is a FPS video game that features action RPG elements. The combat in the game consists of shooting and melee swinging with improvised weapons. There is a crafting system where the weapons can be pieced together from metal parts that can be detached from robots or taken from household appliances. Atomic Heart takes place in the Soviet Union in an alternative reality sometime in the 1950s where technology is far more advanced than it should be. The main protagonist is a mentally-unstable KGB special agent called P-3, who is sent by the government to investigate a manufacturing facility that has fallen silent, only to find out that the machines have gone rogue and bioengineering strange experiments.

Although the game’s development has been largely quiet, they released a gameplay trailer on the 9th of February which showcased the stunning scenes and designs in the game. Although, a few people are a little apprehensive about the dubbed voices, and a few people have already expressed interest in preferring to hear the original Russian cast with English titles to avoid the stilted English dub.

Atomic Heart’s release date is set for the end of 2022. And set to be released on PC, PS4, Ps5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
