With Computex giving us a great look at some upcoming tech, we have a look at the best monitors at Computex 2023. Although there were plenty of companies there for displays, there wasn’t too much to find in terms of new screens, but ASUS and MSI have shown some good options to go for.

If you’re looking for an ultrawide monitor, or one with a high refresh rate, there are a couple of options to look at. Although they’re not the biggest head turners of the show, they are a necessity to a good gaming setup and allow you to enjoy your build.

ASUS ROG PG49WCD

For the top spec of displays shown off, we get the ASUS ROG PG49WCD super ultra-wide 49″ gaming monitor. It is the first ASUS monitor to use Quantum Dot LED technology from Samsung in it, negating some limitations of regular OLEDs.

To maintain the performance of the display, it does come with a graphene film and custom heatsink behind the screen to improve heat dissipation, which also reduces screen burn-in possibility. It should also allow peak brightness to be maintained for longer and not reduce the possibility of degradation. Here are the specs for the screen in detail:

  • Display type: QD-OLED
  • Screen size: 49-inch super-ultra-wide
  • Resolution: 5120 x 1440
  • Refresh rate: 144Hz
  • Response time: 0.03ms gray-to-gray
  • Curvature: 1800R
  • Connectivity: 1x USB-C (90W power delivery), 1x DisplayPort 1.4, 1x HDMI 2.1
  • Misc: Smart KVM switch
  • VRR: FreeSync Premium Pro
  • Brightness, color, contrast: 1000-nits peak brightness, 99% DCI-P3, 10-bit color, DisplayHDR True Black 400 compliance

MSI Project 491C QD OLED

Already teased in November 2022, there has been not much more information provided. And rather the panel provides more information. It does have a resolution of 5120 x 1440p with a refresh rate of 240Hz. So it certainly is an immersive and smooth option to go for.

It does come with a 1800R curvature, a Samsung QD OLED that might be quite similar to the ASUS ROG PG49WCD seen above. Along with a 0.1ms G2G response time if it is in fact the same panel. It is said to be coming in Q4 2023, so we should get more information soon enough.

ASUS ROG PG38UQ

In the middle of the size range of 38 inches, ASUS has a 4K monitor to showcase as well. The first of its kind, it also comes with a 144Hz refresh rate on the display. It doesn’t come with GSync but rather AMDs Freesync Premium Pro, nor much tilt/pivot movement on the stand. With a lacking brightness rating, it only has an HDR rating, so it might not yet be finalized.

  • Display type: IPS
  • Screen size: 38-inch
  • Resolution: 3,840 x 2,160 (16:9)
  • Refresh rate: 144Hz
  • Response time: 1ms gray-to-gray
  • Connectivity: USB hub, 1x DisplayPort 1.4 (with DSC, supports 144Hz), 1x HDMI 2.1 (supports 120Hz)
  • VRR: AMD FreeSync Premium Pro
  • Brightness, color, contrast: 98% DCI-P3, 10-bit color, DisplayHDR 600
