Capcom held its Street Fighter V Summer Update yesterday, revealing that a slew of new content is heading to its flagship fighting title during Season 5.

Street Fighter V director Takayuki Nakayama and producer Shuhei Matsumoto confirmed that five new DLC characters are set to flesh out the game’s roster of fighters in the year ahead, revealing four of them during the live stream.

The new fighters are Dan Hibiki, Rose, and Oro from previous Street Fighter titles Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter 4, and Street Fighter 3. Although Capcom has never shied away from merging its various franchises, it is dipping into its Rival Schools IP for the first time to introduce Akira Kazama to Street Fighter V.

Dan, who starred in Street Fighter Alpha, will arrive sometime in Winter 2020 alongside a new stage, costumes, a new battle mechanic, and a new battle balance. Of all the new fighters, Dan was the only one showcased in-depth via development footage shared during the live stream. You can check it out below.

Following in Dan’s footsteps is Rose, who’ll make her first appearance as a playable fighter since Street Fighter 4. Capcom says she’ll arrive in Spring 2021. Her arrival comes hand-in-hand with a new stage and costumes. Here’s what to expect according to Capcom:

“Rose, a Fortune Teller working in Genoa, Italy, is able to utilize her unique Soul Power. She’s also Menat’s Master and teacher. Originally from the Street Fighter Alpha series, Rose has a mysterious connection with M. Bison. Her fighting style was originally designed to have strong anti-projectile and anti-air attacks. Please look forward to how she has changed for SFV when she’s added to the game in the future! We also remember that the Soul Satellite was pretty strong back in Street Fighter IV, so please tune in for more information on that as well!”

Turning to Summer 2021, players can expect hermit strongman Oro from Street Fighter 3 to join the party.

“With one of the most unconventional playstyles in Street Fighter history, Oro uses only one of his arms to fight by utilizing various unorthodox attacks, including balls of light and pulling rocks from the ground to orbit around him as a shield. Although you can see he has both arms out in this sketch, one of them is holding… a turtle! This is actually a part of Oro’s fighting style, as he challenges himself to keep the turtle in his hand balanced during the fight.”

Wrapping up the slate of known upcoming characters is Rival Schools’ Akira Kazama. She comes with a new stage sometime in Summer 2021. As for the fifth character, Capcom remains tight-lipped, although it expects the fighter to hit the game in Fall 2021. The publisher has promised more information as release approaches.
