Cyberpunk 2077 Release Date, Rumors, And News

We’ve been waiting since 2012 for the news that we thought would never come. And then, in one fell swoop, our wildest dreams were turned into reality in just a few moments. With possibly one of the biggest, most hotly anticipated announcements at E3 2019 was a confirmation of the Cyberpunk 2077 release date.

Cyberpunk 2077 Release Date

Through an internet-breaking announcement trailer featuring none other than Keanu Reeves, we were finally granted a solid release date of April 16th, 2020. This means we’ll be able to get our hands on this before the PS5 console launches later that year. Still no word on whether the game will be updated for the new console though, but with promises of backward compatibility, that’s really not an issue.

Update: The release date for Cyberpunk 2077 has now been delayed until 19th November* (*TBC) 2020 (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia)

In fact, CD Projekt Red – the studio behind Cyberpunk 2077 – has stated in past interviews that they have built the game to work across platforms. With new ray-tracing technology being a big part of the graphics. So, when the PS5 does launch, the game will be able to be experienced in all its glory. They’ve also confirmed that DLC will be released soon after launch and that all the DLC will be free to play.

Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay

The gameplay we saw at E3 has given us a pretty good idea of what we can expect from this game. Cyberpunk 2077 is an FPS game with a difference. Unlike other FPS titles, this is not just about point and shoot mechanics. There is a big roleplay aspect to the game as well, with multiple dialogues seamlessly following into the gameplay and a series of non-combat skills to develop and use.

You play as a gun for hire roaming the futuristic streets of Night City, with more options for exploration opening up as you develop your skills in hacking and engineering. The whole world that has been created in the game is colorful and filled with exciting and diverse characters to interact with.

Combat wise, the focus is on guns – as you would expect with an FPS game. But, there are also a variety of options for non-lethal combat as well as non-gun combat. This gives the game a more expansive feel than many similar games. All in all, the gameplay features we’ve seen so far have got us just a little bit excited.

Thanks to a recent tweet, we’ve also had confirmation that Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer will be a real thing. This has been greeted with something of a mixed response from fans with some worrying that the studio will be splitting their focus too much between single and multiplayer versions of the game. As far as we’re concerned? More play options mean more fun.

Cyberpunk 2077 Character Creation

When I found out about the character creation options in Cyberpunk 2077, I did a little happy dance. Turns out, there are plenty of ways you can customize your character however you want. Some fo choices will be purely cosmetic, as we’re used to in this kind of game. But, there are also choices that will actually affect the way the game runs for you.

Choices like your gender and background will impact how others respond to you. And, while there are no “classes” as such, there are a number of skills that you can choose to develop along the way. There’s also the chance to further develop your character throughout the game through the installation of Cyberware that can do things like boosting your awareness or improve your reflexes.

Final Word

Cyberpunk 2077 is set to be one of the standout games of 2020 as far as we’re concerned. The unique gameplay, colorful world, and character customization all work together seamlessly to produce an awesome game for the masses. Will you be ordering it when it releases? Let us know in the comments!
