DayZ just received its first update of 2022 on all platforms. The developers dedicated the end of last year and the beginning of this one to a “clean sweep” type of update, where they went through the backlog and fixed everything they could. The new 1.6 update also lays out the foundation for future 2022 updates which will come out over the coming months. In addition to all of the fixes, the patch also introduces the iconic “Bizon” SMG, which will be available to all players.

What to Expect From DayZ Update 1.6?

Server-side gameplay settings were expanded by adding the ability to switch off the 2D map layout for a more immersive experience. Players will also now find additional parameters to control the length of the unconscious state to tailor the experience according to play styles. Modders and server owners will also appreciate the extensions within the firearms API, which now allows the spawning of magazines and bullets directly into newly created empty firearms which was only possible before through the central economy.

DayZ Update 1.6 Patch Notes

Here are the highlights of the new update:

  • Consuming charcoal has no effect when another charcoal is already active in the player’s body
  • Increased energy and water given by mushrooms (now similar to fruits)
  • Some jackets can now be torn into rags similar to their pants-counterpart
  • Removed action to take fireplace from fire barrel

The new update lays the foundation for future updates which will be coming to the game throughout 2022. The mod support enhancements, in particular, should greatly benefit the modding community. To check out the full patch notes, click here.
