Sony Announces Custom Death Stranding PS4 Pro Bundle
Many gamers were eagerly awaiting all the latest updates from Sony during their State of Play this week. We got some pretty juicy stuff, but it wasn’t as in-depth in other areas as many hoped. But then, you can’t always get what you want, right?
Death Stranding PS4 Pro Bundle
Although Sony’s State of Play was a little lacking in new Death Stranding content, it makes sense given it took center stage at the Tokyo Game Show and has been the talk of the town for most of September. That said, we didn’t leave empty-handed, as Sony unveiled a special limited edition Death Stranding PS4 Pro bundle.
These types of bundles are generally hit or miss, and we’re happy to say that the Death Stranding version veers more towards a hit. For the princely sum of $399.99, you become the proud owner of a themed 1TB PlayStation 4 Pro console, an exclusive DualShock 4 wireless controller, and of course a copy of Hideo Kojima’s highly anticipated Death Stranding.
Death Stranding Console
The console itself features a custom alternating matte white and dark grey color scheme that sticks to the three vertical tranches of the machine, alongside the dripping handprints of the game’s ominous BT foes on the top cover that ”form the shapes of the world’s continents” according to the official blurb. We couldn’t quite see it ourselves at first, but if you look closely at the palms, they pop out. Neat.
On the front, the Death Stranding typeface is emblazoned on the central band in off gold. It’s not the most imaginative, but sufficiently channels the game so there’s no doubt it’s made in celebration of Kojima’s latest gaming oddity.
The controller boasts a translucent orange shell that matches the color of the baby incubator BB pod strapped to protagonist Sam’s chest in what we’ve seen of the game to date. There’s not much else going on, but peering into the inner electrical workings of the DualShock 4 has its own appeal.
As you’d expect, the bundle won’t be available until the game launches officially on November 8th, 2019, but you can pre-order it from select retailers in North America and Europe right now.
