So, yeah… Digimon Survive has been delayed yet again. Although initially meant to be released earlier this year.

Digimon Survive SkullGreyMon

The game is a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Digimon Anime. The game present a brand-new adventure in a mysterious world. With characters designed by Uichi Ukomo and music by Tomoki Miyoshi. Digimon Survive sees a brand-new group of teens, lead by Takuma Momozuka, get lost on a school camping trip which later leads them on into the Digital world.

As they fight their way back home, there will be plenty of difficult decisions, deadly battles, choices that matter and will affect the final ending. Battles and fights are fought in 2D, in a more classic JRPG style. From what we’ve heard, the game is set to be quite impressive. A survival strategy RPG in the world of Digimon. And if you’re a digifan, you’ll know just how many Digimon there are. So you can imagine the work needed to put in the game to model, design and animate all of them. So it’s not too hard to imagine that it’s taking longer than expected.

That being said, Digimon Survive was announced all the way back in 2018. But was later delayed to 2020, then again to 2021 and more recently it’s been delayed to 2022.

The tweet reads:

To Digimon fans patiently awaiting Digimon Survive:

First of all, we’ll like to thank you for your continued patience and support for Digimon Survive. Our original goal was to launch Digimon Survive in 2021. However, due to the need to allocate more time to development, it is necessary to move the game’s release date to 2022. While this decision hasn’t been an easy one, we want to make sure we use this extra time to enhance the quality of the game.

The entire development team is working as hard as we can on the game, and we kindly ask for your patience. We look forward to sharing more news and updates about Digimon Sirvivae with you all, soon. Thank you again for your continued support.

  • Kazuma Habu, Producer of Digimon Survive

But honestly, who knows? It could be trapped in development hell and will never see the light of day. But that’s being cynical, becaause by all means, it could finally be released. At least we hope so…
