The team is the biggest PC games platform in the world; we all know that. Owned by Valve, Steam often has pretty solid discounts on games running here and there, whether it be a Steam Next Fest event or just a publisher sale. But annual sales are when Steam (for lack of a better term) goes wild.

As the world is full of Black Friday buzz right now, it seems only appropriate that Steam join in on the fun. Steam’s upcoming Autumn sale will encompass Black Friday and be one of its four major sales events. So, don’t you be buying Steam games at full price before the start of the sale.

When will Steam’s Autumn sale begin?

Steam’s Autumn sale will begin on November 27th and run until December 4th, giving you 7 days of sales. Normally, the big sales events last for 2 weeks, including a game or badge collection event that you can use Steamn Points to level up. But because of its proximity to the Winter sale (December 19th – January 2nd), there’s only a week of sales for the Autumn event.

It’s an odd choice to have two major sales events in the same month, given that Autumn and Winter are traditionally three months apart, but it was likely set up this way so that Steam could have a Black Friday event. Let’s hope that these two major sales in such close proximity do not lessen the discounts in any way.

What went on sale last year?

Well, it’d probably be easier to tell you what didn’t go on sale. Steam likes to release a teaser video for the major upcoming sales a few days before launch. There is no Autumn sale video yet, but we expect it very soon. If we look at last year’s Autumn sale video, we can make a few assumptions as to what will go on sale this year. But first, what were the heavy hitters in last year’s Autumn sale?

  • Hunt: Showdown
  • Terraria
  • Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord
  • HITMAN 3
  • The Elder Scrolls® Online
  • American Truck Simulator
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  • Sons Of The Forest
  • Subnautica
  • Deep Rock Galactic
  • F1® 23
  • Starfield
  • STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor
  • Valheim
  • The Last of Us™ Part
  • RimWorld

We can only assume that these games will be going on sale again this year, and with even bigger discounts (for the newer ones); Steam sales often offer discounts of up to 90%, so you’d be silly not to wait a couple of days and see what’s on offer before you spend your hard-earned cash on PC gaming’s biggest platform.

Final word

If you’re looking to do some shopping this Black Friday and for a game or two, then the Steam Autumn sale is where you should be. Sure, you can’t get a physical copy, but it’s the one-stop shop for PC games. However, if you’re on Xbox or PS5, you’ll have to stick to your respective stores.

We’re really looking forward to seeing what’s on offer for this Steam sale. We’ve already got a massive backlog of games to play, but that doesn’t stop us from spending money during these sales events.
