DOTA 2’s first patch of the year is always an exciting one and update 7.31 ends the six-month drought between major updates to the game. While we have received balance patches and seasonal content updates over the months, no major game systems were introduced. Update 7.31 will go live on February 23rd with a rework to Techies Demolitions. The two Aghanim’s items are also being tweaked as they are too powerful in their current states and have been staples in the meta for months.

What to Expect From DOTA 2 Patch 7.31?

DOTA 2 Patch 7.31 includes major balance changes in the same vein as the previous post-International update. Nerfs for Tinker, Spirit’s Break, and the Combo: Outworld Destroyer – Meteor Hammer should help balance the meta. A host of new neutral items are also being added to the game which can open up windows to a lot of intricate builds. Aghanim’s Scepters and Aghanim’s Shards have been ruling the meta for months and with no major balance changes being made since late 2021, Valve is finally addressing the two outliers.

DOTA 2 Update 7.31 Patch Notes

Here are the highlights of the new patch notes:

  • Reworks of Aghanim’s Scepters and Aghanim’s Shards
  • Changes in Gold and Experience values in lanes and the Jungle
  • Techies Demolition Rework
  • General bug fixes and stability improvements

The new update should completely overhaul the ranked and competitive meta ahead of the 2022 esports calendar. To check out the full list of balance changes, click here.
