Media Molecule Unveils Brand New Dreams Trailer During State Of Play

A brand new trailer for Media Molecule’s upcoming Dreams was premiered during PlayStation’s State of Play broadcast today.

Dreams Trailer

Although we’ve known about the February 14th, 2020, release date since mid-November, we always welcome a new look at a game of Dream’s pedigree.

At its core, Dreams is a game creation platform that gives players the tools to create their own games. These are then shared and played by other players. On top of that, it provides detailed tutorials on how to build games from scratch using the tools on offer.

Dreams Gameplay

It’s a shrewd strategy that guarantees a wealth of player-generated content well beyond launch and has the potential to weave together a community as we’ve seen with the enthusiasm of those lucky enough to take part in the early access version of Dreams.

The trailer gives us another look at what can be conjured up with Dreams. We catch a glimpse of vibrant, futuristic vistas, whales in glass tanks, quirky platformers, a skateboarding game, racers, cutesy fighting games, and everything in between.

The trailer is a testament to the ambitions of Dreams and the scale of the tools given players to let their imaginations run wild. There’s so much on show that it’s hard to imagine this all comes from a single game.

Final Word

While Dreams has been in early access since April of this year, the full release will include an as-yet-unseen story mode. It’s unclear whether the trailer features any of this, but if it’s anything to go by, we are in for a treat.

Dreams is a PlayStation 4 exclusive as it stands, so Xbox One and PC gamers will be out of the loop on this one. For those lucky enough to own Sony’s flagship console, there’s only a little over two months to wait before we can jump into the stunning worlds of Dreams.
