On the 29th June EVGA made a post on their Twitter account stating “A New Darkness is coming…” along with the YouTube trailer you can see above which details their DARK logo surrounded by a conspicuously AMD-looking orange circle.

EVGA is known primarily for their GPU AIBs and also PSUs, but also produce motherboards and various accessories. DARK is the brand of EVGA’s motherboard line which up until now has been limited to only Intel CPUs and Nvidia GPUs. They tend to be focused towards gamers interested in performance and overclocking their machines.

Although this video alone doesn’t constitute a concrete statement from EVGA saying they will be making AMD motherboards, its hard to draw any other conclusion from it.

Exact specifications for the AMD DARK motherboard aren’t known, but it’s expected that it will be based on the X570 chipset, like the Intel variants before it.

Why Is EVGA Making AMD Motherboards Significant?

There have been calls for EVGA to extend their motherboard offerings to AMD for some time, and the fact that they are now doing so is arguably a recognition of AMD’s increasing dominance of the CPU space, and also a strong challenge to Nvidia in the GPU market.

Ultimately it’s just great news for consumers who like EVGA products but who also want to run an AMD machine.
