We’ll break them all down below.

F1 Manager 22 Car Part Development – Design
Firstly, we have Design. This is where your engineers test and develop new car parts for the current season’s car. From here you can ask your team to begin development of a new chassis, front and rear wings, sidepods, underfloor and suspension.
We recommend starting development of a new chassis or underfloor first as these are both major upgrades. Your team will always have a new suspension in development in your first season so you can avoid this part for now.
Testing
Once you have decided which car part you want your team to develop, you need to choose how many hours you want to spend testing that part. Each team has a different allocation of testing hours per period based on where they finished on the grid last season. The lower placed your team, the more hours you can spend on this part of the car part development process.
The more time you spend from your allocation the better the car part’s development will be. We recommend pressing the “Show Rank on Grid” button, this will give you a clearer idea of where your car will match up with your F1 Manager 22 competitors.
Design Focus
Next up is Design Focus. From here, you can choose which area you want your engineers to focus on during the car part development process. Again, we recommend hitting the “Show Rank on Grid” button to see how it affects your performance versus your rivals.
You can adjust the sliders here to improve the car part’s performance even further. Be mindful that the more you adjust the focus, the longer the part will take to complete. You can see how long each car part you modify will take to develop in the summary tab at the top right of this screen.
Development Settings
At this stage of car part development, you can decide how many of your engineers you want to assign to the project. The more engineers, the shorter the car part development time. You can also decide what kind of approach you want your team to take during the process.
Taking a rushed approach to car part development costs more money based on the cost of the part, and reduces the amount of car part expertise your staff gain during the process. However, rushing reduces car part development time by a good amount.
Taking an intense approach to development costs quite a lot of money depending on the part you are developing. It increases the amount of car part expertise your staff gain during the process, but does not actually increase the length of the development project.

F1 Manager 22 Car Part Development – Manufacture
Once your engineers have finished developing each car part you will need to manufacture them. We recommend making at least two spare parts alongside the two you will fit on the cars.
Once again you can determine the approach you want your team to take with the manufacturing of the parts. The Rushed approach will decrease the time it takes to produce the part but increase the cost. The Emergency approach is one you should only use in emergencies, the cost will increase significantly but you can produce the part in a day.
F1 Manager 22 Car Part Development – Research
The final stage of F1 Manager 22 Car Parts Development is Research. At the start of the season, before regulation changes for the next season have been voted on, this will be unavailable.
Once the changes come in, you can have your team start to develop parts for next season’s car. If you are a lower-end team, we recommend focusing more on research than designing parts for the current season.
Conclusion
Make sure to understand what your team’s goals are when it comes to development and focus on those areas during the Car Parts Development process. Do you need to have the best car on the grid to fight for podiums this season, or would your resources be better spent on researching for next season’s car?
