Tarkov Loot Table Bugged?

The saga begins when, on Friday, September 3, 2021, players began to note a substantial decrease in the amount of loot they were getting from the typical high-value spots, on maps such as Labs, even when RNG was taken into account.

I was initially assumed that this could be a bug in Escape From Tarkov, but it turns out it was actually intentional!

Fence Message Tarkov - What Does It Mean?

On Saturday, September 4, 2021, the mystery was revealed, starting with a message from Fence to all PMCs which read:

“So listen up, I’m only telling you this because we get along well, the past places with the stuff – are no more relevant. My people removed and stashed almost all the valuables. So keep in mind, look for it elsewhere on locations.”

This was followed by a Reddit post by the Allfather Nikita Byanov (COO of Battlestate Games and Alphaslav), who went on to confirm in the comments underneath that the message marked one of a series of events aimed at establishing fully dynamic loot, a feature that has been requested now for some time.

Escape From Tarkov Dynamic Loot

Although there has always been an RNG (Random Number Generation) element to what loot you find in Escape From Tarkov, the best loot was generally found in a specific handful of locations and rooms – which often end up being focal points for many of the firefights in the game.

Under the Dynamic Loot system now being implemented in Escape From Tarkov, high-tier loot will be more randomly distributed throughout the map, although we do not know exactly how the system will operate or function and how random it will truly be. It is likely that Battlestate Games will continue to tweak the way items are distributed in response to playtesting and player feedback.

We’ll have to wait and see how players find the new system!

Fence Message Tarkov Bug - Garbled Text

Some would be Tarkov escapees have reported that the message from Fence appears as a nonsensical series of text to them, rather than the above message.

Apparently, if this is all you can see, a restart of the game should correct this – and you should be able to see the above message.
