343 Studios hints towards the return of the flood

Soundbite released by 343 showcasing the audio effects of Halo: Infinite, containing a hint towards the potential return of the iconic enemy species. A tiny soundbite was noticed in a recent blog post which delved into the sound design of Halo: Infinite. This has caused a stir in the Halo community. So, will the flood be in Halo: Infinite?

The parasite-like organisms which range from irritating cannon fodder to truly scary more evolved states have been conspicuously absent from the mainline Halo Franchise since Halo 3, supposedly they were entirely eradicated by the end of that campaign but hints of their survival and even eventual return have been constant in the franchise since then.

The soundbite, lasting 2:59 is an abstract mixture of sounds to show off the audio effects design for Halo: Infinite it contains all sorts of sounds, ranging from gunfire, to explosions, to monstrous screams of as yet unidentified enemies. The part that has ignited the suspicions of Halo fans comes in at 17 seconds where a wet, aggressively growling sound can be heard. It does indeed strongly resemble that of the flood, with a very similar throaty tremolo. Will the flood be in Halo: Infinite? We’ll be sure to keep you updated as the release date nears.

Halo: Infinite rumours

This is not the first of the leaks referring to Halo: Infinite, they are coming thick and fast. Halo: Infinite will release on December 8, 2021 on Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, following the adventures of Master Chief after the events of Halo 5: Guardians.
