Bungie gives away free Destiny 2 Bright Dust for 30th Anniversary event

Following a teaser on the Destiny 2 subreddit last week, we can now confirm that free Bright Dust is live in Destiny 2’s 30th Anniversary event.
Bright Dust is a valuable resource in Destiny 2, second only to Silver, and can be used to purchase items from the Eververse Store. With a new Destiny 2 event to celebrate Bungie’s 30th anniversary, there are a selection of cool new cosmetic items available in the in-game store. However, with any significant Bright Dust resources limited to Seasonal Challenges – which couldn’t be updated since we’re still technically in the same season – Bungie clearly figured a new way of earning the currency was required. Plus, what’s a birthday without gifts, right?
Bungie give away free Bright Dust every week
A comment on the Destiny 2 subreddit on December 2nd, 2021, stated that there would be “a way to get some freebie bright dust each week” as part of the new update, though it didn’t state how at the time. Now the event is live, eagle-eyed Guardians have spotted 700 free Bright Dust in the Eververse store. Hopefully, this is the method of obtaining Bright Dust that the Community Manager was referring to on reddit, as that would suggest that we can claim 700 Bright Dust (or some amount of Bright Dust at least) every week during the event.
How to claim free Bright Dust in Destiny 2
In order to claim your free Bright Dust, simply visit an Eververse Trading Co. storefront, open the store, and locate the item ‘30th Anniversary Gift’, which should be to the far right-hand side. The free item will then disappear once you have claimed it once. We don’t yet know if this will appear on a weekly basis, but we’ll keep an eye out for you and let you know.
Do make sure to claim your 700 free Bright Dust ASAP in case the stock does rotate in a week, as you’ll want to make the most of this weekly gift.
