Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is the upcoming asymmetrical horror game, set in the Ghostbusters universe. While we do not know all that much about the game, other than a ghost haunts a building and the ghostbusters team comes in to mop up, it appears there will be many ghost types.

Ghostbusters Spirits Unleashed Ectoplast ghost-type preview

During the Epic Games Store Summer Showcase, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed showcased the Ectoplast ghost type. It is a type of monster based on the Slimer, and there appear to be several slimy varieties to play. In total., it appears that there are a few different variants for each ghost type, each with its own key skill:

  • Winky – Sludge Puddle. It drops a massive purple puddle on the ground that deals damage and slows enemies in the area.
  • Pokey – Ecto Torpedo. Pokey launches a green ball of slime, and if it hits, it knocks the enemies back a fair distance.
  • Brainy – Glob Throw. Brainy charges up a big ranged attack that will deal huge damage if it hits an enemy.
  • Slimer – Noxious Belch. Slimer launches a volley of puke that deals damage for each tick of the slimy volley.

Lastly, there is an ultimate for this subtype, which is the Slimenado. Slimenado makes your ectoplast ghost spin around in circles and launches multiple bolts of slime around you in a 360-degree radius, coating enemies and the entire room in slime. No matter which variant of the Octoplast ghost you use, you get the same ultimate. We can imagine this is the same for the other ghost types, wherever they may be.

Other than that, there is not much else revealed. The devs mentioned there’s still more to come through the summer, so keep your eyes peeled for more content that we should expect for the game launch. As it stands, the game is still set for a Q4 launch on the Epic Games Store.
