Half-Life: Alyx’s New Haptic Mod Makes Gaming Experience More Immersive

If you’re looking for an immersive VR experience, Half-Life: Alyx is probably the best example of what you’re going to get today.

The best thing about it is that it’s always improving. The team at bHaptics have just released a mod for Half-Life: Alyx which integrates three pieces of the Tactsuit into the game – the Tactosy sleeves, Tactot vest, and the Tactal HMD face cushion.

This isn’t a cheap setup though and falls in the wheelhouse of diehard VR fans or those who have a lot of extra cash lying around and want the most immersion possible out of their games.

What Does The Mod Do?

This Half-Life: Alyx mod includes a configuration that allows you to set the intensity of each suit effect. You’ll be able to change the sensation you get when you use specific weapons or catch something with the gravity gloves.

Other effects you can alter include player weapon fire, grenade damage, environmental damage such as explosions or weapon clip inserts. You can even play around with your character’s heartbeat or coughing which will deliver sensations to the Tactot vest.

This will help to create a much more immersive experience while gaming and will definitely be something you can easily get lost in for a few hours.

Where Can You Get This Mod?

To get hold of this new mod, you can download it from Nexus Mods. There’s also a set of instructions to help you install the mod and get it all up and running. It should also be compatible with any other mods you have enabled.

Steam Workshop has finally launched its mod tools for Half-Life: Alyx and it’s only a few days old. The tools include a material editor, ModelDoc, subject editor, particle editor and more so it’ll be interesting to see what comes of Half-Life mods in the future.
