The hotly-anticipated Game Awards 2021 is finally taking place tomorrow, December 9th, and now we can look forward to seeing the first-look Halo the TV series trailer during the event.
Following hot on the heels of League of Legends and its Arcane Netflix series, the Halo franchise is getting its very own TV show in 2022. Coming exclusively to streaming platform Paramount Plus, the series will be a live-action take on the sci-fi franchise’s fictional universe and lore, featuring Masterchief, Cortana and more iconic characters from the games.
What is Halo The Series?
The Halo series is being produced by Showtime who are working with the games’ developer 343 Industries, meaning it’s in good hands. While little is known about the plot for now, we know the show is going to be a live-action retelling of the Human-Covenant war, thanks to a tweet from Showtime, so will likely take place during the events of Halos 1, 2, 3 and ODST.
An excellent cast has been put together for the show, with The Wire’s Pablo Schreiber taking on the role of Masterchief and Fargo’s Bokeem Woodbine as Soren-066. Perhaps most excitingly, though, is the news that Jen Taylor will reprise her role as Cortana for the series, having voiced the AI character in the games. Taylor won’t, however, be appearing in the show as Cortana Creator Dr Halsey, who will instead be played by Natascha McElhone.
