Before performing the slide, you need to get your QB past the line of scrimmage, then to slide in Madden 22, you need to press the Square (PlayStation) or X (Xbox) button on your controller. Holding the button down for too long will result in a dive rather than a slide, so make sure you tap the button to slide in Madden 22.

As you are probably already aware, diving in MAdden 22 is just extending the press from a slide. To dive in Madden 22, you need to get your QB past the line of scrimmage, then hold the Square (PlayStation) or X (Xbox) button on your controller.
