According to Board Channels forums, Intel’s heavily rumored Arc Alchemist graphics cards could be coming sooner than anyone thinks. Through the grapevine, we’ve heard rumblings about Intel’s Arc Alchemist GPUs for quite some time, so it’s not going to be entirely unexpected if it makes an appearance at CES 2022.

Previously we didn’t know if Intel intended to release Arc Alchemist out as a mobile or desktop solution in 2022, but with this latest information from Board Channels forums via Videocardz, we understand that there will be two desktop GPUs mentioned, and the ones that are most likely to be announced. In the same breaths, they are mentioned as being competitors to Nvidia’s highly popular RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti. This is again not expected, as most consumers don’t actually purchase the higher-end models, so it’s a safer bet for Intel’s first foray into the GPU market to be competing with the lowest common denominator in terms of actual customers using the product.

These two SKUs as a part of the Intel DG2 series come in the form of a 12GB Model with 384 Execution units and a 16GB model with 512 Execution units. This would put them in the firm territory of competition. However, without additional support for additional features such as DLSS or RTSS, is Intel ready to compete in this highly competitive market?

There are three SKUs as a part of this chip, not dissimilar to what Nvidia does with it’s flagship GA102 series. This chip is named the 512 EU, and will come in three variants.

  • 512 EU with 16GB of GDDR6 Memory at up to 18Gbps, a 256-bit memory bus and 225W TDP (Desktop SKU)
  • 384 EU with 12GB of GDDR6 Memory at up to 16Gbps, a 192-bit memory bus and a 150-200W TDP (Dekstop SKU)
  • 256 EU with 8GB of GDDR6 Memory at up to 16Gbps, a 128-bit memory bus and a 60-80w TDP (Laptop SKU)

Regardless of what the rumors say right now, we’ll definitely see confirmation of all these specs when CES 2022 rolls around, meaning that consumers will be getting one more option when shopping around for incredibly elusive graphics cards in 2022. However, whether they’ll actually be able to stack up to the competition still remains to be seen.
