Intel’s performance core only Raptor Lake processors are being sold online despite being designed for embedded systems.
Intel’s P-core-only Raptor Lake processors, originally intended for embedded systems, are being sold at lower prices on Chinese online markets. These CPUs are designed for specialized machines that need reliable and consistent performance, not for standard consumer use. However, third-party sellers are exploiting the fact that these P-core-only CPUs can be removed from an LGA 1700 socket and easily installed into a new one.

Intel P-core only Raptor Lake CPUs: Core i9-14901KE, Core i7-14701E, Core i5-14401E
Intel’s P-core-only Raptor Lake processors are part of the 14th-gen lineup, and “P-core-only” indicates that these CPUs come exclusively with Performance cores. Unlike the consumer versions, these CPUs do not include E-cores (efficiency cores), which typically handle lighter tasks. Instead, they feature only performance cores, making them suitable for specialized systems and machinery where power efficiency is not a priority.
Despite Intel not selling these processors to regular customers, these CPUs have appeared on online third-party selling sites such as Goofish in China. These are the three processors along with their pricing and specifications:
| CPU Name | Cores / Threads | Base / Boost (Max) Clock | L3 / L2 Cache | TDP | Pricing on Goofish | Intel’s Recommended Rates |
| Core i9-14901KE | 8 P / 16 | 3.8 / 5.8 GHz | 36 MB / 16 MB | 125W | $420 | $557 |
| Core i7-14701E | 8 P / 16 | 2.6 / 5.4 GHz | 36 MB / 16 MB | 65W | $280 | $392 |
| Core i5-14401E | 6 P / 12 | 2.5 / 4.7 GHz | 24 MB / 12 MB | 65W | $154 | $228 |
How are CPUs designed for embedded systems being sold separately?
Although these CPUs are intended to be sold exclusively with embedded systems, they are appearing on black markets and through individual sellers because they can be easily removed from LGA 1700 sockets and installed into another one. This is why sellers are exploiting this opportunity to offer these CPUs separately for sale.

Another noteworthy point is that these CPUs are being sold for less than Intel’s recommended prices. For instance, the Core i9-14901KE is listed at $557, while the Core i7-14701E and i5-14401E are priced at $392 and $228, respectively. Overall, you’re seeing about a $100 discount on each CPU, though the exact reason is unclear – it might be due to a festive sale.
