Is Diablo 4 on Xbox Game Pass? In short, no.

It’s probably going to be one of the biggest games of the year so a lot of folks who are making the most of the world’s biggest game subscription services are wondering: is Diablo 4 going to be on Xbox Game Pass?

It’s a very fair question, as it likely means that one can minimise the cost of playing one of the biggest releases of the year, reducing it from $70 or £70, down to just a few dollars or pounds for a month or few months worth of Game Pass.

The short is answer is no. Very much no. The long answer is ‘maybe in the future’ but that’s us being more hopeful and speculative, rather than working with solid info there, unfortunately. Diablo 4 not coming to game pass was confirmed on Twitter recently by Diablo 4 GM, Rod Fergusson recently when he said:

This may come as a little surprise given Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, and the fact that all of Microsoft’s first-party games – the likes of Starfield and Redfall, for example, acquired with the purchase of Bethesda – are indeed coming to game pass on day one of their release. However, because Microsoft’s acquisition of the Diablo maker hasn’t actually or fully gone through and been stamped and sealed, here we are with Diablo 4‘s presence on game pass being treated much like any other third-party game might. Might this change if and when the merger goes through? Probably. Is it guaranteed to happen even then? Probably not.

Game Pass would have been particularly useful for those still playing on Xbox One and who haven’t made the step up to a Series X|S console. This one is very much straight forward: it’s a hard no, I’m afraid. The early access is only open to those who place a Diablo 4 pre-order, and while the open beta is exactly that, open, considering the full game isn’t going to be on game pass (yet), we can be sure that the open beta won’t be either. Well, at least it’s a useful, definitive parameter to work with…
