Activision-Blizzard doesn’t tend to have the best luck regarding online multiplayer launches. Overwatch 2 launched amid much controversy, was immediately DDOSed twice, and was bombarded with massive queues and server issues. But are the MW2 servers down?

Are The MW2 Servers Down?

As of the time of writing this article, the MW2 servers aren’t down, but this could change at the drop of a hat, especially given that Activision-Blizzard doesn’t have a handle on their servers.

It’s actually rather impressive that with the massive worldwide launch the servers haven’t just stopped working for a while, but that also leads to much concern that the servers will go down soon.

How Do You Check If The Servers Are Down?

If you go over to Activision’s Online Services page you can choose from a selection of games, which will then allow you to find out if the servers are down on the following platforms:

• Xbox Live
• Battle.Net
• Steam
• Epic Games

If it isn’t down, then it’s likely there’s an issue with your internet connection, so it’s worth turning it on and off again or restarting your entire game to try again.

How Stable is COD?

With all of the issues many players have been experiencing, it’s not unreasonable to want to know exactly how stable COD is overall. After all, it’s one of the biggest online shooters of all time and should be one of the most stable.

In reality, it’s pretty standard amongst FPS titles with an online component. The servers go down relatively regularly, but not usually so.

You have to consider that more people play COD than many other online FPS titles. This means that the strain on Activision’s servers is way higher than most games. That said, Activision also makes a lot of money on COD games, so they should probably be using that money to ensure smooth servers.
