2013’s JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure fighting game is getting a remake for 2022. The game, called JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R – with just the “R” differentiating it from the original – was announced during March 9’s PlayStation State of Play broadcast.
The revamped fighter will celebrate the 35th anniversary of the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure franchise, as well as the 10th anniversary of the anime adaptation which brought the story to the broader audience it enjoys today. As such, we can certainly hope that the 2022 release date announced during State of Play will be upheld.
Over 50 JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R playable fighters
Over 50 playable characters from the entire history of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure will join the game, bringing together characters from different arcs for the first time. This also means you’ll get to play as characters that weren’t available in the original JoJo fighter. Not only this, but die-hard fans of the franchise will no doubt be impressed by the authenticity of the animation style.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R has been faithfully created to honor the design style of Hirohiko Araki’s original manga, and you’ll notice the attention to detail in the fighter’s faces, movements and expressions.

While JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R was announced during PlayStation’s State of Play, the game will be available on all current and next-gen consoles, as well as Windows PC.

There is no release date for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R just yet, but the announcement post does suggest a “fall 2022” release date. This suggests that we might see the new JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure fighting game released to PS and Xbox consoles, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC sometime around October 2022.
