Starfield is the first new universe in 25 years from Bethesda Game Studios. The game has been dubbed a new generation role-playing game set amongst the stars. Where players can create any character they want and explore an open-world galaxy whilst on an epic journey to answer humanity’s greatest mystery.
What we know about the game so far is that it’ll be an open-world galaxy exploring game. One where no two games are the same, and by all means a lot of it sounds like what No Man’s Sky also set out to do. But recently, there was a series of Starfield leaks that have given us a better insight into what to expect from the game.
The leaks, shared via Reddit (and therefor should be taken with a grain of salt), explain some finer details about the galaxy. It mentions how players will be able to choose their starting location, picking different planets of space stations each time they replay the game.
More notably, the leak suggests that each planet has a bigger map than Skyrim’s. This seems ambitious, doesn’t it? And considering Bethesda’s track record with big but empty maps, I’m not sure how to feel about it. Ambitious and likely very demanding. Either way, it’ll be interesting to see how exactly this goes, considering we’re expected to see the game next year. Nor do we even know how long the team have had time to work on this project.
Granted, having wide open spaces is vital to any open-world (especially a space faring one), but to make things interesting, each planet is going to have to be special, unique and interesting. Otherwise we’ll recreate a very lacking and empty world that promises a lot but is mostly empty spaces.
Either way, it’ll be interesting to see how the game progresses and seeing development.
