The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 release date will soon be upon us, as will that of the Lenovo Legion Slim 7i, its Intel & Nvidia powered cousin. Both of these Lenovo gaming laptops represent thinner (as the name would suggest) and lighter versions of the Lenovo Legion 7 / 7i, and though they don’t have quite the same high-power limit GPUs as a consequence, they do have some additional features that might make them of interest to people who want a dual-use creative plus gaming laptop.

Lenovo Legion Slim 7i specifications

The Intel version of the laptop, the Lenovo Legion Slim 7i, comes with only one CPU option, the Intel Core i7-12700H. This Intel 12th gen laptop has three different options for accompanying Nvidia GPUs: the RTX 3050 Ti laptop, RTX 3060 laptop, and RTX 3070 laptop graphics cards. The TGP of all these GPU options, whilst decent, is below that of the same cards in the standard-sized Lenovo Legion 7i, due to sacrifices made.

The Slim 7i comes with 16G DDR5 4800MHz RAM as standard (8GB of which is soldered-on) but the other 8GB DIMM Slot can be upgraded to 16GB at a later date should you wish, meaning a maximum memory capacity of 24GB.

Although not currently listed as options on the Lenovo website, there are three potential display variants of the machine (all of them with 16:10 aspect ratio): a 1920 x 1200 165Hz IPS option, a 2560 x 1600 165-240Hz IPS, or a mini-LED 2560 x 1600 165Hz version. The latter option would be ideal for content creators, particularly when paired with the full-size SD card slot, which isn’t present in the full-sized Lenovo Legion 7i. The laptop also comes with G-Sync, helping to reduce screen-tearing in games.

Lenovo Legion Slim 7 specifications

The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 is an all AMD Advantage edition laptop, powered by AMD Ryzen 6000 series CPUs and Radeon GPUs, which makes use of various synergizing technologies including Smartshift Max to maximize power efficieny. As a result, you can expect this AMD version of the machine to have a longer battery life than its Intel and Nvidia counterpart. You’ll notice that the display options below don’t include the mini-LED panel that the Intel has, and we’re not sure if this is just an omission from what we’ve seen so far, or if the all-AMD version is definitely not going to come with this as an option. Besides this, the main difference is the lack of Thunderbolt port, but the inclusion of an additional USB-C 4.0 Gen 2 port instead of one of the USB 3.2-A sockets, making for three USB-C ports in total.
