LG Electronics is set to launch its first OLED gaming monitor later this year, residing within the brand’s UltraGear gaming monitor lineup. The new display will be called the LG 48GQ900 and unlike the brand’s OLED TV lineup, the new OLED gaming monitor will feature DisplayPort inputs and AGLR (anti-glare low reflection) coating.

While there is no official release date just yet, the new OLED gaming monitor is expected to launch in the second half of 2022.

The new gaming monitor will be called the LG 48GQ900 and looks set to feature all the latest console-friendly features and specifications.

Alongside a stunning LG Display’s WOLED panel, the 48GQ900 will also feature a 4K screen resolution, 10-bit color, and AGLR (anti-glare low reflection) coating. As far as inputs are concerned, users can expect a number of HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort ports – all of which support VRR (variable refresh rate) technology for a smooth, tear-free gaming experience. While the monitor’s refresh rate seems to be 120Hz, early reports are suggesting a 138Hz max refresh rate via DisplayPort. That said, this specification remains unconfirmed.

From the marketing materials that have been released, the LG 48GQ900 looks set to feature the same UltraGear design language as the other panels in the range. A wide V-shaped stand is expected with very limited ergonomic functionality, alongside a borderless design with some subtle RGB lighting zones at the rear of the monitor.

General gaming should also feel incredibly crispy on this monitor, with OLED technology offering up sub 1ms response time (using the GTG transition). Furthermore, users can expect stunning visual performance from this monitor thanks to the OLED’s general capabilities. An infinite contrast ratio, perfect blacks, and pixel-level luminance control all point towards a fantastic visual experience. The monitor will also deliver excellent color depth thanks to 10-bit color and a 98.5% DCI-P3 color gamut.

LG 48GQ900 release date

At the time of writing this, we don’t have an official release date for this particular panel. According to FlatpanelsHD, the LG 48GQ900 will launch sometime in the second half of 2022 – with pricing and general availability also unknown at this early stage.

They go on to say that a full specifications announcement will be made later.

All being said, it’s no surprise to see the latest OLED gaming monitor launch later in the year, especially with all the buzz that currently surrounds the hugely-anticipated LG C2 OLED TV lineup.

Like always, we’ll be keeping this page bang up to date with all the latest announcements so you don’t miss a thing.
