This new timeslot includes the new MacBook Pro 14″ release date with M2 Max and M2 CPUs and the new MacBook Pro 16″ with M2 Max and M2 release date.

Contrary to his previous estimates (it seems even the Apple oracle gets stuff wrong from time to time) tech biglad Marky Mark Gurman is now claiming that the new 14-inch MacBook Pro release date & 16-inch MacBook Pro release date has been pushed back to Q1 2023. He predicts that we’ll likely see it sometime in the February 2023 – March 2023 period, around the usual time of Apple’s Peek Performance event.

This comes after the latest Apple Earnings Call discussion, where Apple CFO Luca Maestri made various comments which seemed to throw cold water on the idea of a new MacBook Pro 2022 release date.

*OLD PREDICTION* The new MacBook Pro 2022 release date has not yet been confirmed by Apple, in fact we’ve heard very little about the new MacBook Pro M2 Max and M2 Pro devices, although we strongly expect the devices to be launched between now and the end of the year.

2022 has already seen the release of the MacBook Pro 13-inch version with M2 CPU and the latest MacBook Air 13-inch with M2 CPU, but we’ve yet to see any 14-inch or 16-inch MacBook releases this year. The expectation is that a new MacBook Pro 14″ with M2 Max and M2 Pro CPU options will be released in the next few months, according to well-known tipsters like Mark Gurman. Well-known Apple prophet Mark Gurman, has stated in his tech column on Bloomberg that he thinks it likely the new MacBook 14-inch and MacBook 16-inch launch date could be in November, based on historical precedent. See below for our breakdown of this.

Previous new MacBook Pro release date history

The below list shows the launch dates of various MacBooks over the last four years, including the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro.

There are two broad time windows each year that Apple like to launch new MacBooks: the May-July period and the October-November period. Given that May-July 2023 seems quite late for the MacBook Pro M2 Max and M2 Pro release date, it looks likely that we’ll see the new devices launched at some point this November, though this isn’t guaranteed.

In each instance, the actual MacBook Pro release date tends to be about 10 days (roughly) following the product announcement, which would put the likely MacBook Pro 2022 release date as sometime in November-December 2022 (see below for a more in-depth prediction).

As we can see above, new MacBooks have frequently launched in October-November over the last few years, and for obvious reasons it would be beneficial for Apple for the laptops to come out in time for the Christmas retail season.

Apple tend to launch their new products earlier in the week (most commonly on a Tuesday). The actual release dates (i.e. when you can buy the product and take it home with you) tend to be a week after the Friday of the same week they’re launched i.e. approximately 10 days after the launch date.

So if we assume that the new MacBook Pro will be launched/announced at some point in November near the beginning of the week, this would put the likely MacBook Pro 2022 release date window as Friday 11th November – Friday 2nd December, 2022.

To be absolutely clear, this is still an educated guess at this stage, but it’s the best we’ve currently got.
