Madden 22 update 2.01 brings much needed bug fixes and other NFL authenticity updates

Madden 22 update 2.01 released on PlayStation and Xbox consoles on October 12, 2021, meaning it’s time for another instalment of Madden 22 patch notes. The newest update redesigns scouting in Franchise Mode, with both regional and national assignment scouts that will provide in-depth scouting reports on player physicals, personality traits, and overall ratings.

You can even do Mock Drafts, to work out who other teams may be interested in throughout your season. If you want to utilise the new scouting features, you’ll have to restart your franchise.

Madden 22 Update 2.01 also includes crucial bug fixes for errors and glitches that have been discovered since Madden 22 Update 1.04 back in September. 

Madden 22 update 2.01 NFL Authenticity Updates

Several new real-life sporting objects have been added or changed to increase the authenticity of the NFL experience on screen. This includes the addition of 99 Club and Jordan 5 cleats, renovations to the Panthers and the Saints Stadiums and updates for the Browns and Colts helmets from the 1960s. Several new throwback uniforms have also been added for the 49ers. 

In terms of bug fixes, EA Sports has resolved lighting and shadows issues on all consoles, as well as texture issues that made people’s heads appear grey on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Madden 22 update 2.01 Gameplay Changes 

New Abilities

There are several new abilities that will let you make plays and score points like never before. Players with Run-Off Elite are masters of distracting defenders, while those with On The Ball won’t be fooled by people doing WR runoffs. 

Precision Kicker will let a Kicker see their entire shot arc, while Crusher players will cause extra fatigue when they hit an opposing  ball carrier. Players with Demoralizer clear any progress towards getting into ‘the zone’ with their hit-stick tackle. There’s also an X-Factor move called Mind Reader, which sadly, isn’t X-Men related at all. When activated in a match it’ll let you use your coach cam to see the opposing team’s offensive play art.

EA Sports has also made updates to Pass Coverage to enhance the gameplay experience, altering A.I. controlled decisions when it comes to Hook Zones, Curl-Flat Zones and Flat Zones.

Man Coverage Alignment and Matchups

EA Sports have improved A.I. logic on defenders so that they’ll properly align with the team during a CB Matchup. 

There was also a bug fix to stop players incorrectly swapping assignments when the offense motioned receivers across their formation.

Franchise Mode Updates

The main change to Franchise Mode is that there’s a new Scouting Update (check out EA Sports’ Scouting Update Deep Dive). It adds a lot of depth to recruiting players to your team. 

Various bugs and glitches were also fixed to improve the play experience. 

The Yard 

Ranked mode has been added to The Yard. It’s called The Yard: Ranked. In ranked mode, you can unlock Gear, Cred, and Madden Ultimate Team packs by playing for tier points each game and completing “Props” to rank up. If you hit max level, you can prestige, start over and do it all again.

Alongside these changes are miscellaneous stability fixes that should smooth out the game experience, as well as upgrades to authenticity during pre-game flows.

Madden 22 update 2.01 Madden Ultimate Team Changes

EA Sports has made several user interface (UI) updates to Madden Ultimate Team. They have also fixed a big exploit where users were able to exceed the AP limit and steal victory. 

As you can tell, the changes to Madden 22 are quite substantial, so this is a brief summary rundown.
