With the freshly announced Meta Quest 3 alongside its release date and pricing, we get a look at its design and features. And in particular, the new controllers, lack the ring protruding out the top of it. So how does that affect your experience and why are they gone?

The reason for them being used in the first place is due to tracking. The rings were tracking rings and now have been dropped due to the improvements in the tracking technology. And now make it a much more streamlined and ergonomic form factor to use. Instead feeling like a natural extension of your hand and taking up less space.

These also include TruTouch haptics that improves the feedback and feel of the actions you are performing, further improving the immersion of the headset. Along with the touch pro controllers available that can offer a more premium experience, or even the potential to drop them with direct hand tracking out of the box allowing you to interact with the objects in the virtual world.

All of that should provide a better improvement over the previous iteration. Especially as the tracking on the headset has improved as well. Giving a better worth over the Quest Pro 2, it offers up plenty more sensors and a likely field of view. Since it includes 4 cameras and 3 sensors, it should be able to track your controllers and hands better, along with getting better depth perception and passthrough from the colored cameras.

Overall it is considering buying the Meta Quest 3 over the other options. It should provide a better experience overall, especially considering Meta is suggesting the performance is going to be near double that of the 2 with its new Snapdragon processor. So if the refresh rate and resolution are good too, it sure is going to change things up.
