CorePC, previously known as Core OS looks to modernize the entire Windows platform.

Microsoft is hard at work to produce project CorePC, a revolutionary operating system featuring AI, quicker updates, and improved security.

Core OS made Windows more modular, however, wasn’t very successful, well now it is coming back, only this time it’s bigger and better… apparently.

Microsoft had previously tried something similar with Windows 10X, however, this was eventually canceled.

Windows Platform gets modernized

We previously reported on a Win 12 design leak and got a bit excited as we saw speculative system requirements.

Making Windows 12 modular sounds like a great idea as customization is a much-loved addition to most software, but for now, let’s see how CorePC gets on.

Project CorePC is apparently state-separated, enabling faster updates and better security overall. Currently, Windows is not State separated, everything from system files to program files is in one place.

This tech ensures a more reliable system and could even mean we see some stiffer competition for the Chromebook OS.

The CorePC idea could also be rolled out for desktops too.

The main talking point for most apps is AI and it looks as though Microsoft wants to include it in yet another project. So far we have had the delights of Bingchat and the introduction of Microsoft 365 Copilot, all sounding very impressive.

Some rumored plans for AI with CorePC would allow Windows to analyze content, and provide the user with prompts that could help with the efficiency of any task. It sounds similar to the Copilot functionality, however, there is also talk that the AI may be able to identify objects, text within images, and all that cool stuff AI can do these days.
