Although nothing has been confirmed, we’ve seen some increasingly credible signs of an imminent Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 release, including rumored specification information. Originally we had a supposed leak from a gentleman named Gustave Monce on Twitter that put it as coming out sometime in Spring 2023, but obviously, this passed with no laptop in sight. More recently though WindowsCentral has claimed that their source within Microsoft said we should expect to see it come out in the next couple of months.

*UPDATE* Microsoft has sent our invitations to the Media for a ‘Special Event’ on the 21st of September, 2023, as has been reported by The Verge, MSN, and many others. Although we’ve had no confirmed Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 release date from the company itself yet, the aforementioned leak, combined with historical release date data, suggests that the device could be coming out imminently.

There’s no information yet on the display, chassis, and ports of the new device, but it’s expected to be pretty much the same as last year’s according to Windowscentral’s source, with the main differences coming with the 13th gen CPU options, expanded RAM loadout choices, improved integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics option or the more powerful dedicated RTX 4060 GPU.

This is a significant upgrade from the A2000 Graphics / RTX 3050 Ti that was in last year’s model. RTX 3050 Ti laptops in particular were pretty underwhelming last year, but the RTX 4060 laptop GPUs we’ve seen so far look to be a lot more promising.

These specs line it up to be a strong competitor to the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra.
