A new spin on the battle royale genre, Nakara: Bladepoint mixes a fantastical Medieval East Asian aesthetic with hack and slash game mechanics and the usual battle royale format. Apparently, this is a winning mix, as the game has enjoyed unprecedented popularity for a free demo.

The free final beta on Steam, letting players experience the game before its official release on 12th August 2021, has drawn in over 161K peak players. At the time of writing, it is the 5th most played game on Steam in the last 24 hours, and the third most-played battle royale on Steam over the same period (behind PubG and Apex Legends), the game even sits above GTA V at the moment!

The game is made by 24 Entertainment, a Chinese studio, who will have their sights on trying to knock PubG off the top spot – the king of the battle royales being very popular with Chinese gamers. This is no mean feat and we look forward to seeing if Nakara: Bladepoint is up to the challenge and can freshen up the bloated battle royale gaming space.

See our Nakara: Bladepoint system requirements page for full info on what PC you’ll need to run the game at a competitive FPS.
