Alongside the new Gotham Knights story trailer debuting at DC FanDome 2021 is an equally cinematic – and gameplay averse – video for the Suicide Squad game. Titled ‘Ticking’, the new Suicide Squad trailer reveals that the team of no-gooding do-gooders (Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, and King Shark) has been implanted with timed explosive devices, obviously to incentivize them to kill, or rather, save, the Justice League.

Sadly, it’s yet another FanDome trailer lacking in gameplay, which for a game that’s been in full development for more than five years (and in some earlier form for far longer), is both a surprise and a worry.

We had expected to see some evidence of the game’s supposed third-person action, which will combine single player and co-op multiplayer across an open world Metropolis. Solo players will be able to switch between Suicide Squad members at will, while in online co-op, up to four playters can work through the campaign together.

Still, despite the lack of gameplay, the new Suicide Sqaud trailer is an enjoyable one all the same. With Rocksteady driving development of Suicide Sqaud (Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, Arkham Knight), there’s no reason yet to abandon hope. But, if we don’t see something in-game soon, we may have to take out the Justice League ourselves.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is due for release sometime in 2022 for Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. It’s one of a growing number of next-gen-only games that our Vince recently profiled.
