Following the monumental news that was Microsoft acquiring Activision Blizzard, it’s not exactly surprising to hear the consequences and ramifications of that merger. Well it seems we’ve got the first result from the acquisition, with news that new Warcraft content is heading to mobile devices.

“Blizzard is planning substantial new content for the Warcraft franchise in 2022, including new experiences in World of Warcraft and Hearthstone, and getting all-new mobile Warcraft content into players’ hands for the first time.

What exactly does this mean? Well it’s possible that Blizzard might be put to work on new mobile apps, set in the Warcraft world, much like Hearthstone. This could be with some generic mobile gacha games, or possibly a new and more exciting and innovative addition to the franchise.

“Blizzard is making strong progress on its pipeline, including new experiences in Warcraft, ongoing development in Diablo and Overwatch, and an exciting new IP.

This would certainly imply they’re getting to work on new content set in the Warcraft world. But for the time being, that’s all we know about the content. As time goes on, we’ll likely get more details on this upcoming project. What kind of game it is, who’s working on it and when to expect it!
