Nintendo Switch Price Drop

The Nintendo Switch was released in 2017 and was lauded as a return to form for Nintendo after the disappointing Wii U. It launched at a price point of $299.99 and has remained at that price ever since, but if rumors are to be believed this may soon change as the reliable Nintendo news Twitter account, Nintend’Alerts has reported that there will soon be a Nintendo Switch price drop. It’s not known yet if it will apply to regions other than France.

Nintendo is notorious for setting and sticking to their price points for extended periods, far more so than Sony or Microsoft. This potential price drop does make sense however, as the premium version of the Nintendo Switch is expected to release October 8, 2021, this new model has a range of refreshed features, most notable of which is the OLED Screen, this version will release at a price point of $349.99, so a price drop on the original model seems feasible.

Nintendo Switch Price Drop: French Twitter account reports potential drop in price

Nintend’Alerts is known to be an accurate insider for this industry. They seem confident that a $70 price drop is set to happen ahead of the release of the OLED model. This may be a welcome treat to gamers who have been waiting for the Switch to drop to a more accessible price point, Nintendo will no doubt hold fast on their famously stubborn first-party game prices, however.
