AMD’s Ryzen 9000 series was a bit of a bust in sales (though AMD has done things to improve the 9000 series). It left everyone waiting for the 9800X3D to release, causing worldwide stock issues of arguably the best CPU in the world right now. Cyber Monday has come through with a Ryzen 7 7700X deal. You can get 34% off right now. But we think it’s due to a big drop around the holidays if you want to risk waiting. This CPU is strong, capable, and a good middle ground for anyone looking to work or play.
The AMD Ryzen 7 7700X is a performance-oriented powerhouse that redefines what an 8-core CPU can deliver. Built on AMD’s cutting-edge Zen 4 architecture, this processor pairs blazing-fast clock speeds with innovative technology to meet the needs of gamers, creators, and PC enthusiasts alike. With a base clock of 4.5 GHz and a turbo boost reaching a stunning 5.4 GHz, the 7700X provides strong performance across gaming, productivity, and multitasking workloads.

This CPU represents the first wave of AMD’s AM5 platform. Supporting DDR5 memory at speeds up to 5200 MT/s and PCIe 5.0 ensures lightning-fast communication with next-gen GPUs and storage devices. Whether diving into high-FPS gaming or handling heavy workloads, the dual-channel memory configuration and 24 PCIe Gen 5 lanes eliminate no matter the GPU.
Designed on a 5nm process, the Ryzen 7 7700X offers a perfect blend of power and efficiency. With a TDP of 105W and AMD’s Precision Boost 2, it dynamically adjusts performance to balance thermals and clock speed under load. This CPU is built to run calm and stable even during extended gaming marathons, with an impressive max operating temperature of 100°C (though it’ll flip its lid at 95 and throttle), showcasing its robust engineering.
The 7700X isn’t just about raw power; it’s also a capable multitasker. Equipped with 8 multithreaded cores totalling 16 threads, it’s perfect for demanding creative tasks like video editing, 3D rendering, and streaming while maintaining excellent responsiveness in other applications. Its 32MB of shared L3 cache and 1MB of L2 cache per core ensure ultra-low latency and enhanced overall performance, whether gaming at 1440p or tackling intensive productivity workflows.
For gamers, the integrated Radeon Graphics provides a safety net for light workloads or troubleshooting without a discrete GPU. Pair this with its compatibility across a wide range of AM5 motherboards, from entry-level A620 boards to premium X670E options, and you’ve got a processor ready for both mainstream users and high-end builds.
Though we have seen better prices this year, we think this CPU could be due to a huge drop in price around the holidays. It is $265 right now, around $30 less than where it usually sits. If we go off the Camelcamelcamel graph, we can predict a big discount coming in the future. Though, we can’t say for sure.

This price is still a good deal, as we’ll likely see it shoot up to around $300 after the sale, but we think it’ll come down lower again for the holiday season.
