The past couple of months have seen some excellent CPU discounts, but the one that takes the cake has to be the Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Since April, we’ve seen the 7800X3D trending down in price and it looks like this month is one of the best times to buy it.
Right now, it’s 15% off, bringing it down from its list price of $449.00 to $380.00. That’s an excellent price for a processor that was until only recently the absolute best gaming CPU on the market.
What we like about the Ryzen 7 7800X3D
We reviewed the Ryzen 7 7800X3D and, like many, were incredibly impressed by its performance. It features AMD’s revolutionary 3D architecture which effectively stacks the cache to greatly increase its size. That’s ideal for gaming, especially if you want to push high frames.
This is a good CPU for powerful mid-range AM5 builds, and pairs well with even some of the very best GPUs on the market.
- Core CPU specs: 8 Cores, 16 threads, 5.0 GHz boost clock, 96MB L3 Cache and 120W TDP.
- Future facing: Pair this with a compatible AM5 motherboard and you’ll also be able to take advantage of DDR5 RAM and Gen5 SSDs for maximum performance.
- Clear upgrade path: No need to swap out your motherboard if you want to upgrade to a more powerful AMD Ryzen CPU in the future.
- Best time to buy: The CPU is starting to get a little older now, and it’s seemingly getting cheaper and cheaper as time goes on.
Who this deal is for and possible alternatives
This deal is going to be great for you if you want to save cash on a mid-range to high-end gaming PC build. This processor delivers excellent gaming performance for the price, and as you can see from the graph above it is one of the best times of the year to grab it for less.
Possible alternatives worth considering would be the newer Ryzen 7 9800X3D, which is similar but offers better performance. That being said this a rarely discounted from my experience, so get ready to pay around the $470 mark if you’re interested.
